about john

John Eagle has been painting for 25 years or so. He had some training at Heatherley's School of Fine Art. He mostly paints in oil on canvas and whilst he has a wide subject range, is often painting dogs.

The painting on the left was made by Daphne Todd, a good friend, in 2010

what happens when I make a painting for you.......

If you want a dog painting – I need a high resolution digital image (some do get rejected) and several others showing particularly the head. It should not be in too strong a light and not have any odd shadows from objects outside the picture frame or be partly in shade. Ideally something showing lots of character. I can take a dog image and put it into a landscape/setting, but it is sometimes tricky. The deal is that I paint it, tell you how long it took (and they vary from about 6 hours for a simple head with no background to 60 plus for something complex. Fees depend on time taken, size and complexity; so please call me to discuss, or, better still, we can meet if you are local.
Oh, and there’s quite a queue so don’t hold your breath timewise!

I am happy to tackle anything (except people). In my galleries you can see the race horse Harbinger and a sailing ship, Spirit of Bermuda.
